I had an excellent working relationship with Jay. He would have done anything I insisted on but he used his experience to point out other possibilities. Jay was flexible and accommodating and so was I. We had a very good relationship. Jay has incredible integrity and it was a pleasure to work with him.
We talked often and sent designs back and forth. It was a long distance project. I knew what I wanted and had total confidence in Jay’s ability. I’d go up for three or four days and spend all of them picking things out and talking…Jay and Timberpeg were very clear on costs; there were no surprises.

The subs that worked on our house were wonderful…We had no negative experiences with subs. All problems were fixed quickly, and with no questions asked. We have heard MANY stories about negative experiences others have had with contractors. Tales of arguments, poor workmanship, ignored schedules, and outright rudeness. We experienced none of the above.
I cannot recommend Old Hampshire Designs highly enough. This was a home building project of over $1.5 million. From initial design to finished details this company was a true partner always concerned to meet our requests.
The men that worked on our house were always respectful and courteous. When we would show up on the job site we were always welcomed regardless of how involved they were with the work they were doing. They never let us feel that we were in their way or intruding.

We have been working with Old Hampshire Designs for about 4 years now. They completely renovated our lakeside cabin. The work was meticulous and their subs (painter, plumber, electrician, etc.) all worked seamlessly. Much of the work was design build. Since then, they have completed several jobs for us at another house including a room renovation over a garage with heating and AC, replacing a well and many small projects that have come up.

Jay Tucker, President, began Old Hampshire Designs in 1984 after working for Timberpeg as both a designer and production coordinator. He is a member of the National Association of Home Builders, the New Hampshire Green Building Council, the Greater Lake Sunapee Chamber of Commerce, and the Better Business Bureau. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of New Hampshire, and MBA at Plymouth State University.
Bill Andrews, Project Manager, graduated from Keene State University and has worked in the building construction industry for over 30 years. Several of the homes Bill has built are featured on our website. Bill also taught woodworking at the Cardigan Mountain School.
Bill Demers got an early start as a custom finish carpenter while working as an apprentice in his father’s business. The Demers Wood Specialties team began subcontracting for Old Hampshire Designs, Inc. in 1995, producing custom millwork for residential and commercial building contracts. Bill made the transition to becoming a Project Manager with Old Hampshire Designs in 2019.
Karen Bennett Lafiosca has worked for Old Hampshire Designs for 17 years as the Accounts Manager, providing accounting, customer service, and all-around support.
Wendy Parker is our Office Manager. She joined us in 2013 and provides administrative support for the whole Old Hampshire Designs team. Wendy also spearheads our marketing and customer relations.
